Are you listening to those crazy voices?

Here’s what’s interesting…

For a lot of people, the voice that says:

“You can go traveling, have adventures, see the magic in the world.
You can stand on top of a mountain in some exotic location and wonder at the beauty of everything.”

is the crazy voice.

The voice that says:

“Keep pressing those buttons on the keyboard. Keep serving up those coffees. This is what pays the bills and the rent.”

THAT is the sensible voice.

So why do we tend to code the “voices” that way around?

Well scientifically speaking, it’s to keep ourselves safe and protected from (gasp!) risk.

The moment we decide that the crazy voice may actually have a point, the fight or flight response is triggered.

We panic like an elephant looking down and seeing a mouse.

For instance, when I was about 21 years old I decided to listen to my inner voice that was saying:

“Go to Los Angeles”

I didn’t know anything about LA. Other than that, the idea felt really cool.

Let me put it this way…

I went ahead and brought the ticket before I brought the guide book.

As is usual when you listen to the crazy voice, it turned out to be a wonderful, life-defining decision.

And it taught me a valuable lesson…

The adventurous voice we get conditioned to perceive as our enemy…actually turns out to be a good friend.

I’m not saying people should be foolhardy and take silly risks here.

I simply think most humans avoid the road less travelled before they’ve even shown up at the starting post.

Their happy place remains happy yet deserted.

(As we all know, you can’t get to the Emerald City before your foot first touches a single yellow brick.)

Anyway, if you’re feeling stuck deciding which road to travel down next, it may be that your inner guide and wisdom is giving you all kinds of clues.

So here’s my message to the “sensible” voice in all of us…

The solution to being bored, stuck and unfulfilled is NOT to resist change and live in fear.

More of the same get’s more of the same.

It always did. It always will.

The true answer is to develop an authentic abundance mindset.

To nurture the inner voice that says:

“We can do anything. We can be anything. We can live any life we choose.”
