The question I’m asked every day…

“How can I discover my source code?”

and

“I just don’t know what I’m good at or what my purpose is”

The quick answer is to focus on what you enjoy doing.

In the words of Joseph Campbell “Follow Your Bliss”

FYB is not the destination. It’s the journey.

The thing is you can’t discover your source code in the same way you solve the treasure hunt.

In some ways it’s elusive like the gold at the end of the rainbow.

But in total contradiction, it’s not a myth or an unachievable quest.

Source Code is with you continuously.

It’s energy.

Rather than looking directly at the energy just feel it.

If you look at the sun directly in an eclipse you can burn your retinas and blind yourself.

Same kind of principle here.

Source Code is YOU. It’s the feelings, the energy, the raw power you’ve always had.

The bullies made you stop seeing it.

When I say bullies I mean everyone who ever told you to be the same…to toe the line…to follow common sense and stay small and “Don’t stand out”

They said those things until it became internal and we started saying them to ourselves.

That’s when source code started to hide.

But like an elusive butterfly, it never actually goes away.

Don’t state at the sun but look for the clues that it constantly leaves.

The warmth.

The passions.

The desires and drives.

The patterns.

The days when you were at your best and felt most alive.

Your source code is YOU.

It gives you more power than a lightning conductor could ever attract.

Your source code is YOU. Everything else is rust that can be removed.
