I constantly challenge myself to ask this question…
“Does it pass the puddle test”
Because here’s the thing…
It’s been raining here for 3 days constantly.
Some people would moan and groan at this. Many do.
But every time my 3 (soon to be 4) year old son sees a puddle, he jumps in it.
And the truth is. He’s like a glass overbrimming with joy.
He KNOWS jumping in puddles is awesome.
Whereas us adults often walk around them.
People say “when you grow up you slow down”.
That right there is the problem as far as I’m concerned.
Slowing down is for the dark side. Slowing down is simply code for “I’ll procrastinate and in fact I won’t do it.
Boring.
Let’s not slow down. Let’s keep chasing after the rainbows and enjoy the pointless bliss of the journey above all else.
Let’s do things that pass the “puddle test”. Let’s do things that make us glow with warmth and gratitude.
When I ask myself the question…
“Does this pass the puddle test?”
And I do the things that actually reach that bar…
Everything improves.
My business is better. My health is better. I am a better father and husband because of it.
The grins and the sheer fulfilment that are born from jumping in puddles (the deeper the better)…
That kind of innocent, mischievous, dream manifesting, fun can be found on almost every street corner in the world.
And on every step of your path.
So long as you’re busy looking for it.
Yes? No? Maybe?
